The Central Oregon Cat Alliance, a coalition of local animal welfare groups, will hold a Town Hall style meeting on Wednesday, January 20th from 6pm to 8pm at Wild Ride Brewing in Redmond to discuss feral/stray cats in Central Oregon and the group’s plans to humanely reduce the population of stray/feral cats over the next several years.
All are welcome to attend this free event. We encourage anyone with concerns or questions about cats to attend, whether your concerns lie with the cat/wildlife conflict, cats in your yard or if you are caring for outdoor cats in your neighborhood. We will discuss our plans and our needs for volunteers as well as addressing the concerns of attendees.
Since 2013, the Central Oregon Cat Alliance, or COCA has provided spay/neuter and vaccinations for over 3,000 feral or stray cats in Deschutes County and dramatically reduced cat intake at local shelters. COCA is a partnership between the Humane Society of Central Oregon, Brightside Animal Center, Bend Vet Clinic and Bend Spay and Neuter Project. The group aims to promote comprehensive, humane feral cat management programs in Central Oregon benefiting both wildlife and public health conditions in our community.
