LaPine Doggie Roundup

In 2011, Bend Spay and Neuter Project was awarded a grant from PetSmart Charities Inc. to spay and neuter 1,078 dogs living in La Pine. LaPine was singled out from other surrounding communities due to the high number of unaltered dogs taken in at the Humane Society of Central Oregon from the LaPine area. The strategy behind the targeted spay and neuter grant is to take a small geographic area like LaPine, and be able to make a significant impact on the number of unaltered dogs in that area. The goal of our grant is to spay and neuter 50% of the dogs living in La Pine, which is about 1,078 dogs over the course of 2 years. Our goal is to complete 538 surgeries the first year, with the program beginning July 15th, 2011. BSNP will be offering vouchers for $20 to any resident in the 97739 zip code to spay and neuter their dog(s) through 2013. If you live in La Pine and want to take part in the program give BSNP a call at 541-617-1010 or stop by the clinic to pick up a voucher and schedule an appointment. We thank you for taking the time to find your kittens new forever homes, but in order to be sure this doesn’t happen to someone else, we encourage you to have your kittens spayed or neutered before adoption!!

Internship Program

Are you studying to be a Veterinary Assistant or Technician online? Do you need in-clinic experience to complete your degree program? Bend Spay and Neuter Project is currently developing an internship program and looking for potential interns! Interns will assist the Certified Veterinary Technician in animal restraint, vaccinations, post surgical recovery and have a chance to learn about anesthesia and more about how spay and neuter surgeries are performed. All interns will receive training prior to beginning their program and will be supervised by our Certified Technician and Veterinarian at all times.
